Puppies are offered under the following terms
-
We agree to supply health information of the puppy upon delivery, and the AKC registration as soon as the transaction is complete and full receipt of the payment is made. The puppy is current on inoculations necessary to guarantee good health at the date of sale. There is a general health guarantee of the puppy for seven (7) days from the date of receipt of the puppy. It is recommended that the Buyer take the puppy to a licensed veterinarian of their choosing within the 72 hours to determine that the puppy is healthy to the Buyer’s satisfaction. If there is something wrong with the puppy, a Veterinarian must write up an explanation which may be submitted to Caliah Brittanys and will be reviewed by our veterinarian. The Buyer has the option to return the puppy for a replacement puppy (if available) or a refund of the purchase price within this seven (7) day period. This stipulation is contingent on whether the Buyers have exercised all necessary precautions to maintain the puppy’s health. Expenses to return the puppy will be paid by the Buyer.
- The puppy is covered by a thirty-six (36) month Hip Dysplasia guarantee provided the following instructions and conditions are met:
- At an age acceptable to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA), but not after thirty six (36) months of age, the dog shall be x-rayed and those x-rays and application sent to the OFA for evaluation and certification. A copy of the certification and/or final evaluation should be provided to Caliah Brittanys upon receipt of the results. The Buyers shall pay all costs incurred for the x-raying and certification of the above named puppy. The thirty-six (36) month restriction is in place to encourage the Buyers to have this procedure done in a timely manner.
- The puppy was not spayed or neutered before the age of 24 months.
-
Should the puppy show evidence of Hip Dysplasia by the OFA, the Buyers may exercise the following options:
- A mutually agreeable replacement puppy will be provided to the Buyers at the time proof of spay or neuter is provided.
- If the Buyer does not want a replacement puppy, Caliah Brittanys agrees to refund one-half of the original purchase price upon receipt of proof of the spay or neuter of the dysplastic puppy.
-
If the puppy is sold as SHOW QUALITY, it is guaranteed free of any disqualifying show faults as listed in the AKC Breed Standard for showing in conformation competition. If the puppy is found to have disqualifying faults for show purposes only, then the Buyer may exercise one of the following options:
- A mutually agreeable replacement puppy will be provided to the Buyers at the time proof of spay or neuter is provided.
- If the Buyer does not want a replacement puppy or if one is not available, Caliah Brittanys agrees to refund one-third of the original purchase price upon receipt of proof of the spay or neuter of said puppy.
- To reduce the risk of Hip Dysplasia, Cruciate Ligament Tears and other conditions, we strongly recommend waiting until the puppy has completed their growth before a spay/neuter procedure is performed. This usually means waiting until the dog is around 2 years of age. It is expected that the owner will take every precaution necessary before that point to ensure no accidental breedings occur.
-
If the puppy is diagnosed with a genetic disease the Buyer may exercise one of the following options:
- A mutually agreeable replacement puppy, if available will be provided to the Buyer at the time proof of spay or neuter is provided.
- If the Buyer does not want a replacement puppy or if one is not available, Caliah Brittanys agrees to refund one-half of the original purchase price upon receipt of proof of the spay or neuter of said puppy. This guarantee covers epilepsy, and diseases covered by the OFA certification (elbows, heart, thyroid, patella, eyes). Such determination of genetic disease is left to the mutual agreement of the Buyers and Sellers veterinarians. OFA certification for these diseases must be done before the puppy is 48 months old to exercise this option.
-
Caliah Brittanys retains the right of First Option Back should the puppy need to be sold or transferred at any time. The First Option Back as mentioned means that should the Buyers decide to sell, transfer the puppy or its ownership documents, put the puppy down or can no longer care for the puppy, then the Seller has the first option to obtain full ownership back at no charge. The buyers must contact the Seller, and allow twenty-one (21) days after notification for the Sellers to exercise their option before any other “new” buyers may be considered.
- The buyer agrees to select an AKC name using the general theme provided as well as use the name “Caliah’s” as the first word in the name. The Chosen theme is ‘To Be Determined’.
- In the case of a disagreement, a mutually agreed on third opinion will be sought.
- If the puppy is used for breeding prior to OFA certification, ALL GUARANTEES BECOME VOID. This is done not to discourage breeding, but to discourage breeding of animals that are not genetically sound.
